A friend of mine posted the other day that “good mommies have home baked cookies for their children after school”. I remember doing that very same thing when my children were growing up. It just seemed to make the transition from home to school a lot easier. Then when the time came that we began to homeschool, I still did it on the first day of school: warm chocolate chip cookies and milk after we finished for the day. And so it goes. Then things change and your children move away to college. It’s no longer easy to send fresh, home baked warm chocolate chip cookies and milk to your child in LA or to your child in Massachusetts --that's just not going to happen. I'll tell you what did happen though: I had Domino’s pizza delivered to my son’s place in Massachusetts. Was he happy? It sure sounded like he was! I was happy that I had included hot wings. I know that many people feel that technology has claimed much of our time and other precious resources but I used technology to show my son that I was still his mommy and that caring for him is my inalienable right. So I thought to myself: this is my affirmation for today: I am a good mommy. I then started to say all you good mommies out there can feel free to steal that but then I realized --I don't know any bad mommies at all! No matter who you hold to be your child the mommy love is still the same. It comes from deep, deep within your heart and your eyes of love see your kid as a small child forever – which is why I also had a salad delivered with the pizza! #illdoitagain
